Club Rules

To help keep the atmosphere at Yateleys Health & Fitness and create a respectful environment for all members, we politely request that the following rules are observed:

Appropriate clean clothing and footwear must be worn at all times within the Club and sports centre.

  • Wear unrestrictive clothing – No denim
  • No offensive logos on clothing
  • No topless training
  • No sandals or loose fitting types of footwear
  • Avoid taking phone calls in the gym – discretion is very much appreciated
  • Jewellery must be appropriate

Personal Training between club members will not be permitted without the prior agreement of the Management. Any members who are found to be personal training will have their membership terminated without notice and with immediate effect.

No running, jumping or diving in pool areas is allowed. For reasons of health and hygiene, it is necessary for all members and guests to shower before entering the pool. Showers are provided for this purpose in the changing areas and/or on poolside. Members and guests with a verrucae, athletes foot, or similar communicable maladies must not use the pool without appropriate aqua guard swimming socks. Radios, lilos, buggies or anything which the Club in its absolute discretion considers to be a hazard or otherwise detrimental to the use of the pool are not permitted. Members and guests are asked to wear conventional swimming costumes only. Babies and children are also required to wear appropriate costumes. All children under the age of 2, or not yet toilet trained, must wear Aqua Nappies whilst in the swimming pool. The pool may be reserved at certain periods for adults only sessions, swimming lessons or children’s parties. Prior notice will be displayed on Club notice boards. No food or drink is to be taken in or consumed in the pool area

In the interest of safety and hygiene, no crockery or glasses are allowed in the changing rooms, fitness areas, dance studio, swimming pool and other activity areas. No pets will be allowed in the club premises, with the exception of guide dogs. Entry to the Club is only permitted at the Club reception and entrance. Fire exists, which are clearly marked, are there in the interests of safety and members and guests must not interfere with these doors for any reason. In the event of an emergency evacuation, members and guests must immediately make their way in an orderly fashion to the nearest available exit and meet at the designated fire assembly point.

a) If any member shall cause a nuisance or annoyance to other members, guests or Club staff, or misuse the Club facilities, or breach any etiquette guidelines, or generally behave inappropriately, the Club reserves the right to refuse admission or suspend or terminate membership. In particular, abusive language, threatening or violent behaviour will not be tolerated

b) No photography (including the taking of images through a mobile phone or camcorder) is allowed in any area of the Club

c) Members or guests may not use the facilities whilst under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or other mood altering substances

d) All members are to wipe the equipment after use using the spray and towels provided as a courtesy to the next user

e) During busy periods members are to keep to no longer than 20 minutes on each piece of equipment in any one go

f) No food or drink, alcoholic or otherwise, or illegal substances may be brought into and consumed within the Club or its grounds. The Club is non smoking

g) Be courteous to other members of the gym

h) Replace equipment after use, in the correct place and the correct fashion and clear up any space that you have used when you have finished

i) Bring a towel to every work out session

j) Always wipe down the machines after use Any behaviour that is deemed inappropriate by members of staff may result in you being asked to leave the premises.

a) Upon joining the club all new members are required to complete and sign a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire. The purpose of this is to ensure that the club’s staff are fully informed of any physical or medical condition which could affect the members ability or suitability to take part in physical activities. Only if the club’s staff are fully and accurately informed, can they assess the member’s health and fitness level and prepare an appropriate exercise programme. The club strongly recommends that all members seek medical advice before commencing a new exercise programme and the Club reserves the right to request a doctor’s certificate and to reject a membership application if a satisfactory doctor’s certificate is not received by the Club.

b) The member warrants and respects that he/she is in good physical condition and that he/she knows of no medical or other reason why he/she is not capable of engaging in active or passive exercise and that such exercise would not be detrimental to their health, safety, comfort or physical condition.

c) The member shall not use any club facilities whilst suffering from any infectious or contagious illness, disease or any other ailment such as open cuts, abrasions, open sores or minor infections where there is a risk such use would be detrimental to health, safety, comfort or physical condition of the other members including staff.

Only children over the age of 13 can use the gym if they are signed up to a Teen Fitness Membership. To be a Teen Fitness member you must have completed a gym induction with one of our fitness instructors. Teen Fitness members between the ages of 13-15 must observe the time restrictions displayed in reception and may only use the cardio equipment. They must also be accompanied by an adult member at all times during unmanned hours and in accordance with the time restrictions displayed. Only Teen Fitness members over the age of 16 may participate in Yateleys Health and Fitness classes, and be able to use the weights following the appropriate induction. The management may specify certain programmes, classes and activities where children may participate without adult supervision. The management reserves the right to make arrangements with local schools to use the facilities at different times. The management reserves the right to apply a charge for these times which may vary depending on activity.

Please refer any comments or complaints to a member of the Club staff or by completing a comment card. Written complaints must be addressed to the Club Manager.

Access to the fitness areas may be limited in the event of classes or pre-organised sessions. Details of these will be posted on Club notice boards.

Guests will be admitted on payment in advance of the Guest Fee. Members must accompany their guests at all times and members shall not leave the Club premises before their guests. All guests must complete the appropriate Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire and undertake an initial induction. The club reserves the right to refuse admission to a guest for reasons of health and safety or if the proposed guest has previously not complied with club rules.

a) All reservations for classes and/or programmes may be made two weeks in advance.

b) 24 hours notice is required upon cancelling a reservation. If shorter notice is given the management reserve the right to charge the full cost of this booking to the member and no further reservations can be made until this is settled in full.

c) The management reserves the right to refuse to rebook a member that cancels or fails to keep an appointment for services, classes and/or programmes repeatedly.

For security reasons, members and guests are asked to store personal belongings in the lockers provided. All usage of lockers is governed by the membership terms and conditions. Lockers are provided on a daily basis only, and items left overnight will be left at the members own risk.

All lost property found on the premises should be handed in to the Club reception. Items whose ownership cannot be identified will be stored by the club for two weeks and then donated to local charities.
